Concept and Site Understandings
Embracing and enhancing the Svratka river as the heart of the community is longstanding goal for the city of Brno. Although there are many existing and planned civic amenities, riverfront properties have been bisected by major arterial road, Bauerova, and disconnected from the rest of the city fabric. Being located between beautiful riverfront and edge of the city center, the project site will play the most critical role in re-engaging the city and riverfront once again.
Currently as the result of the huge plot size, the trade fair site is considered as a buffer between the city and the river. We, however, believe that it will serve as a connector without compromising the trade fair function.

Spatial Design Strategy
Proposed spatial design strategy is named “+Plus”, which means series of small interventions along the Bauerova, taking cues from surrounding site assets not limited to natural environment, cultural & sports facilities and existing transit route. “+Plus” interventions are strategically placed to create multiple nodes, such as cultural node, amusement node, transit nodes, university node and so on, connected by linear open space along the river and newly introduced transit and pedestrian circulation systems. This “+Plus” intervention strategy will grow further along the river and to the city center and eventually will re-engage the city and river.
